Helen French

Helen French
Knitting has been a past time since 5/6 years, gradually acquiring "fancy work", crocheting, and dressmaking. A TAFE course in Commercial Needlework completed that side.  Becoming a property owner in the early nineties brought me into contact with raw fibres such as mohair, cashmere, merino and crossbred wools as I learnt the classing of these fibres.  The next step was learning the creative knowledge to use these in spinning, weaving and feltmaking. See Helen's profile page for more...

Barbara Johnson

Barbara Johnson

In 1999 my husband and I embarked on our long-term desire of a self-sufficient lifestyle.  While in training for the big move to the bush I learned soap making.  By a couple of years after moving we owned sheep and alpacas. One day I came across a book on felting at a garage sale.  Hey! Why not make our own felt coats was my first thought. Then my childhood craft of crochet remerged.  Through my desire for like minded companionship I joined the Monaro Fibre Crafters. Where due to the persistence of some members the most recent edition to my craft collection is spinning. See Barbara's profile page for more...

Mary Mitchell

Mary Mitchelle
I started knitting at about 5 years of age and have done knitting, sewing, embroidery, tatting, crochet and other handwork ever since. I remember knitting a garment for my doll as a child. My 'forte' would have to be knitting and counted thread embroidery but I enjoy all types of fibre craft. I started spinning at a NSW Guild workshop in 1997 and now have alpacas which are my main source of raw fibre, however I do spin wool as well. Belonging to the Monaro Fibre Crafters group is a great source of encouragement and learning. See Mary's profile page for more...
